Outsource Marketing again named King County ‘Best Recycling Workplace’
BELLEVUE, Wash., June 18, 2008–Outsource Marketing has been named by King County (Washington) as one of 21 companies recognized as “Best Workplaces for Recycling.” The firm was honored for the second straight year as a winner of the county’s annual contest for having strong internal recycling programs and being committed to making recycling easy for employees.
“This recognition is the result of a total effort on the part of our partners, employees, affiliates and even some of our clients to reduce, reuse and recycle,” said Patrick Byers, Outsource Marketing President + CEO. “As a firm that lives and breathes Responsible Marketing, we wanted to walk the talk and take our commitment to minimizing our carbon footprint as seriously as we do our professional activities.”
The list of Best Workplaces for Recycling features several “name brand” companies, including The Home Depot, IKEA, REI, Philips Oral Healthcare and CH2M Hill. The winners are helping spearhead an initiative that seeks to significantly reduce the more than 250,000 tons of recyclable materials annually sent to local landfills, according to King County Solid Waste Division officials.
We are pleased to recognize these companies’ efforts to fight global warming by providing workplaces that promote and encourage recycling,” said King County Executive Ron Sims. “These businesses are embracing the recycling ethic and gaining financial savings. It’s a win-win for them and for the environment.”
To qualify as a Best Workplace for Recycling, companies must fulfill at least 10 out of 27 recycling criteria, such as offering recycling bins at every employee workstation, purchasing recycled content products and offering employees suggestions on how to recycle more.
At Outsource Marketing, the entire firm signed a “Green Pact” spelling out the ways the company works to reduce waste, conserve energy and encourage its clients to do likewise. Among the initiatives: use of eFax and Web conferencing; elimination of bottled water; reuse of one-sided copies; and use of durable dishes, utensils and towels, instead of paper and plastic.
